Why, what does that supposed to do?I'm going to assume that you have a microwave next to the tower...From what it looks like, I'm not the only one out there that does that...
yeah i would not like a microwave that close to my pc lol i would keep it like 5ft away all microwaves are is a big magnet. do you do it for a fast delete of the hdd? lol

Yes, it is to detroy information if it need be done at some point in time. I actually have mine about 8ftish away from me right now. A lot of times, CDs seem to find their way to me and they are only meant for one set of eyes. After you examine the data you were supposed to see, you nuke the disc for 4 seconds. One, it creates a neat sparkle show. Two, it destroys the foil on the disc itself. i imgine that it may not actually be a microwave right there as I suppose it could be whatever it is that he is using to hold and circulate the water for cooling.
